Parenting Partners Workshops at BHS

Alexis Gregg, Staff Writer

Burke realizes that parenting is hard work.

This spring, Burke hosted a Parenting Partners Workshop to help parents with the challenges of parenthood.  We tackled tough questions like how to get your child to follow family rules, how to avoid the homework hassle, and reducing family stress and frustration.

A series of eight workshops from April 22 to May 13, the BHS Parenting Partners Workshops covered topics like:

  • Positive Parenting
  • Creating Confident Kids
  • Communication that Works!
  • Creating Structure for Achievement
  • Discipline—Practice for Success
  • What Children and Teens Need to Succeed
  • Parents Engaged for Academic Success

“Our Parenting Workshops are an ongoing program here at Burke, and participants really seemed to find them a valuable resource,” said program coordinator Audrey Algere. “It’s not easy finding a convenient time for parents to meet, though. Next fall, we may look at changing the times we offer the workshops so that more parents can join us.”

To help parents, Parenting Partners provided childcare as well as refreshments and door prizes.

Graduation from Parenting Partners is scheduled for May 13, 2017 in the BHS Parenting Room. Workshops will resume in the Fall, so call (843) 579-4815 now to reserve your spot!
