Senior Spotlight: Mia Washington

Joshua Bostic, Staff Writer

Mia Washingon is a valued student and athlete at BHS. A member of the girls’ varsity basketball team, track team and GDD girls’ step team, Mia also played clarinet and was a drum major in the band.

After graduation, Mia plans to attend college to major in exercise science or physical therapy. She hopes to continue playing basketball through college.

During her years at Burke, Mia was most influenced by Coach Alston. she said “he believed in me more than anyone else and always pushed me to be my best self. Coach Alston was like a second father. He helped form me into the person I am today.”

Mia’s advice to the Burke students she’s leaving behind is to “Keep your head up no matter what and keep your spirits and hopes higher!”
